Thomas Pfister, LPC, CSAC, BC-TMH

Clinical Counselor, Pastoral Counselor, Certified Life Coach, and Founder and Owner of Most Sorrowful Mother Counseling

Thomas Pfister, LPC, CSAC, BC-TMH is a mental health therapist and certified life coach in private practice and is the owner of Most Sorrowful Mother Counseling. Thomas holds a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, specializing in both mental health and addiction, from Marquette University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in the State of Wisconsin. He is also a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).

Thomas has worked in a variety of mental health settings, including private practice, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and school-based, with individuals and families of all ages. Additionally, Thomas has received extensive training in Thomistic psychology from top experts in the field, including Father Chad Ripperger, SMD and Dr. Patrick DiVietri, OCDS, CPC, AAPC: Fellow, and has provided speaking engagements on mental health from a Thomistic framework. He has also provided therapy services for seminarians, priests, and consecrated religious. Thomas himself is currently undergoing formation to become a Third Order Dominican.

Thomas provides individual, marital, and family therapy and coaching. His approach is rooted in Thomistic psychology and incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Thomas has completed advanced training in both couples therapy through the Gottman Relationship Institute and EMDR through Mind Works Professional Education.

Thomas is also a regular contributor to the Messenger of Saint Anthony online and print magazine, published by the Conventual Franciscan friars of the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua, Italy, providing pastoral counseling advice. His articles can be viewed here.
